Sustainability as a Planetary and Business Imperative

Sustainability in the healthcare sector is a way of helping to improve the hospital and the environment. With this in mind, it is important that Environmental Services Team Members become more engaged in sustainability through:
- The urgent facts about sustainability as a planetary and business imperative, and
- using practical tools including a Sustainability Dashboard and IEHA’s Environmental Services Professional (ESP) credential
In this session, Mr. Patterson will discuss sustainability as a “planetary and business imperative.”

Michael Patterson, MNA, MESRE. As a professional speaker, Executive Housekeeper and current Executive Director of the International Executive Housekeepers Association (IEHA), a Division of ISSA, Michael Patterson – Master Registered Executive Housekeeper, knows a lot about what it takes to become a successful leader. An IEHA member for 30 years, Patterson earned his certification in 1991 and become registered three short years later. He earned his associate degree in management and business administration from Wright Junior College in 2004. He later received a bachelor’s degree from the Board of Governors with a focus in Human Resources Management from Chicago State University, and a Master’s in Non-profit Management from North Park University. He served as President of the Chicago Chapter of IEHA from 2005 to 2007. Michael was the Executive Housekeeper at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD.
